What is Sandalwood Essential Oil?
As the name suggests, sandalwood oil is an essential oil that is extracted from the heartwood of sandalwood. Homemade Sandalwood Oil Recipe
- 1 cup of carrier oil such as olive oil or almond oil
- 8-10 grams of sandalwood powder
- A saucepan
- Muslin cloth
- An airtight container.
- Preheat the microwave to 200 degrees.
- Add the carrier oil to the saucepan and mix the sandalwood powder into it. Cook the oil in the microwave for two to four hours.
- Once the oil is cooled, strain it into the container using the muslin cloth.
- The oil is now ready to use. Make sure that the container is airtight and it is stored in a cool place.
What Precautions Should Be Taken?
Though the risks of Sandalwood Oil are few and rare, there are a few precautions that must be taken anyway. Some of them are:
- Use Sandalwood Oil well diluted with a carrier oil always as Sandalwood is quite potent.
- Lactating mothers and children below the age of 5 are advised to refrain from using Sandalwood oil.
- Always do a patch test on your skin just to make sure that you are not allergic to the oil.
